Congo Helping Hands is a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 status to be tax deductible.
Raising funds is necessary to accomplish all of the good things the Congolese people need to get started on the road to recovery. Donations are deeply appreciated and will be used to directly benefit the Congo. As a newly formed organization, we do not have figures concerning the percent of donations used for programs versus administrative costs, but we are certain they will be very high. At the present time, the board members and friends of Congo Helping Hands are donating all of the required printing costs, computer software, ink, paper, transportation, shipping supplies, etc. needed to keep us rolling. Of course we cannot continue this way indefinitely, so raising funds becomes the course for the long haul.
Because CHH has a multi-faceted approach to it's aid, there are a wide variety of ways to help. Donations in kind are accepted for medical supplies, baby packs, basic school supplies, French textbooks and dictionaries, medical reference books, small hand tools, refurbished computers or medical equipment, etc. It is expensive to ship things to the Congo and it take months to reach the destination because the transportation infrastructure is sparse. Also the Congo has no interior postal service and limited telephone service. Communication is tough; sending shipments is tougher. CHH will not be deterred from doing what it takes to help these desperate and deserving people.
